10 Quick Questions – Liz Mitchinson

1. What is your job title?
I am the Account Executive here at The Sphere Agency (translation: the junior who does the little jobs nobody else wants to do).
2. Best thing about working at Sphere?
Probably the staff. Or the fact that we get food orders delivered to the office. Actually… Food Order > Staff 😉 Sorry guys!
3. Most embarrassing moment at work?
At my last work place there was a soda stream machine as an alternative to regular water. At the time, I was going through a massive health phase, where I wouldn’t allow myself to have sugar and would only use these grape electrolyte tablets to flavor my water. One day, I thought to myself, why not add these tablets to my fizzy water for something different!? I thought this was the smartest, most innovative idea ever. I proceeded to add not one, but two tablets to my water. Suffice to say it exploded all over the office, and the carpet smelt of grapes for weeks to come.
4. Share a picture that makes you smile:
I <3 dinosaurs.

5. First ad you ever worked on?
I have only been in the game a short while, however, the first TVC I worked on was for Crayola, an old client of mine. Most of the time we were provided with international footage, and had to re-record an Australian voiceover, or change elements for a local market. If you have ever had to carry out ADR/dubbing you would know that this is a very difficult process! After we had sign off from the client, I was really proud of our efforts. I still remember the first time I saw one of the ads broadcast on television, it was a very memorable day.
6. First concert you ever went to?
So my older sister would always invite me to tag along to events when I was growing up. You know, when you’re under 18 and need a parent or guardian to get anywhere… At the time I was about 14 or 15, and she was very much into the goth scene (actually she still is). One night she took me out what was going to be my first ever concert – Marilyn Manson. Suffice to say, I experienced a few firsts that night!
7. Would you rather always have the hiccups or feel like you need to sneeze but be unable to for the rest of your life?
Is this one of those questions where death isn’t an option?
8. What made you want to work in advertising?
I’ve always liked working in creative industries, and I have met some really great mentors along the way. One day they suggested making the transition into client service, and well, here I am!
9. If you weren’t working in advertising, what would your career be?
I have a mild obsession with Jurassic Park, and that they make the dinosaurs using animatronics. I’d love to make those for a living… or just be in the same room as them…
10. Who is your celebrity look-a-like?
I have no idea… The only celebrities I know that have freckles are Nicole Kidman, Lindsay Lohan and Morgan Freeman…
